About the museum
The museum, in the centre of Reggio Calabria, is dedicated to bergamot, a citrus fruit typical of the Reggio coast. The route brings together tools that tell more than three hundred years of culture, traditions and uses of the fruit.
One part of the collection concerns industrial archaeology: there are machines for extracting the essential oil from the early 18th century, steam machinery from the 19th century, devices with electric motors from the early 20th century and equipment from the years of the economic boom, around 1960.
Visits are accompanied: according to visitors, a museum guide shows the rooms and offers a taste of a bergamot drink.
