About the museum
The museum opened in 2001 in Lavarone and grew out of the beekeeping passion of the Marigo family. It is now run by Amelio Marigo, son of the founder Bruno. Its motto is “To admire, understand and love the world of bees”.
On the ground floor, the life of bees is presented: anatomy, social organisation and roles within the hive, natural enemies and the relationship between humans and bees, with a glass-walled observation hive housing a living colony. The basement is devoted to the history of beekeeping, with natural honeycombs, rustic and modern hives, honey extractors, presses and traditional tools, plus a video and an interactive area. On the mezzanine there is a specialist library and a creative space for children; outside, a meadow with fixed hives can be observed from a safe distance.
Every visit is accompanied by an expert guide, and the museum also offers tastings and programmes for schools.
