About the museum
The Haus von Prükk house museum was created through the conservative restoration of an old dwelling that had kept, over time, the features of a 19th-century Cimbrian farmhouse. Starting from a very characteristic but by then run-down building, the Kulturinstitut Lusérn renovated all the rooms and the original furnishings, to turn it into a historical memory of the typical Cimbrian house.
It is located in the piazzetta Battisti/Pill, in the historic heart of the village, and consists of two buildings of different periods and types, spread over three and four levels respectively. The north building was built around the first half of the 19th century in two phases; the roof, originally of larch shingles, was replaced with zinc sheeting after the fire of 1911. The south building probably dates from the first half of the 18th century, although the exact date is not known: by 1856 it already had the appearance that the restoration has brought back.
Haus von Prükk is a tool for the historical memory of the local community: a museum of folk tradition, but also a living place where, on summer evenings, the stories of the past can once again be told as they used to be.
