About the museum
The Maenza landscape museum was established in 2008 in the Caetani-Aldobrandini baronial castle, a fortified complex whose core dates back to the 12th–18th centuries. The route is dedicated to the landscape in its representations and its uses.
The museum includes a documentation centre on cartography and legislation, with maps and atlases from the 16th to the 20th century; an art gallery with landscape works by artists from the 16th to the 21st century and photographs from the 19th century to the present; a section on material culture from the archive of Duilio Cambellotti, with archaeological finds and folk ceramics of the 19th–20th centuries, linked to natural resources such as water, oil and wine; and didactic panels on the architectural and artistic history of the castle.
