Regional art museum in Boccafossa devoted to the Veneto landscape in twentieth-century and contemporary art, with sections on photography and a sculpture park.
The exhibition starts from Kandinsky's reflections on spirituality in art and sets masters of the twentieth century against contemporary artists; it is completed by a tribute to Antonio Giulio Ambrosini with works from 1958 to 1962.
About the museum
The Museo del Paesaggio stands in Boccafossa, in the municipality of Torre di Mosto, and is owned by the municipality. Since December 2024 it has been run by the Fondazione Terra d’Acqua. It opened in 2007 after a cycle of exhibitions promoted by four municipalities (Torre di Mosto, Caorle, Eraclea and Ceggia) on the artistic depiction of the Veneto landscape in the 20th century. In 2009 the Veneto Region recognised it as a regional museum.
The museum consists of two buildings: the former elementary school of Boccafossa, renovated for museum use, and a second building, constructed from scratch, initially intended for rural civilisation and later devoted to contemporary art, with exhibition activities since 2010.
The museum aims to promote the reclaimed landscape of eastern Veneto. It presents Veneto landscape painting from the late 19th century to the sixties, contemporary art on the theme, a section devoted to photography and, outdoors, the suspended space of the “Dialoghi celesti”, with large installations by artists including “Fiume sospeso” by Valerio Bevilacqua and “Terre in vista” by Andrea Morucchio. Since it opened, it has organised 34 exhibitions with catalogues.
