About the museum
The Museo del Tartufo Tru.Mu. was created in 2007 in Borgofranco sul Po, now part of the municipality of Borgocarbonara in the province of Mantua, a town known for its white truffle. It is an ethnographic museum designed as a route of scientific discovery of the truffle in the Mantuan territory.
The exhibition, covering about 250 square metres, guides visitors through the science of the truffle, the curiosities of this underground fungus, the training of truffle dogs, cooking and preservation techniques. Outside there is an educational park where children can test what they have learned.
The museum fits into the local tradition of truffle hunting, which is also represented by the association of truffle hunters Trifulin Mantuan.
