About the museum
The Museo dell'Acqua was conceived by the Gruppo Speleologico Settecomuni and proposed to the Municipality of Asiago in 1998; it has been open to the public since 1 June 2009. It is located in the Kaberlaba locality, in Via Casa del Pastore.
The Altopiano dei Sette Comuni is a karst massif rich in cavities, characterised by scarce surface water and an impressive underground water circulation. The museum takes water as the common thread of the relationship between people and their environment, and preserves, in the tangible objects and in memory, how the presence and at the same time the absence of this resource have shaped the history and development of the territory and its inhabitants.
The museum sections address water as an indispensable resource and in relation to the land, life, work, leisure, fantastic creatures and war. The exhibition route is completed by the “Anello dell'acqua” trail, which can be walked freely and at no cost, and by a teaching cave, the “kinderloch”, used in workshops for children.
