About the museum
The museum houses the collection of Luciano Berruti, born in Cosseria in 1943, Italian masters cyclo-cross champion and a leading figure in vintage cycling in Italy and Europe after taking part in “L’Eroica” in Gaiole in Chianti. Over more than twenty-five years Berruti collected bicycles and memorabilia ranging from the velocipede to the modern bicycle; the museum opened on 27 February 2010.
It is housed in the former primary school of Cosseria, in the locality of Bosi, and covers more than a hundred years of cycling: about a hundred models of historic bicycles, posters, photographs and memorabilia of the 20th century, including the bicycle of Francesco Moser, Fausto Coppi’s maglia rosa (pink jersey) and Learco Guerra’s Italian champion’s jersey.
The museum is a reference point for enthusiasts and organises rallies and races on the Riviera di Ponente; the staff also offers day trips and weekends by bicycle, on the road or on mountain bikes, departing from the museum.
