About the museum

The museum in Sant’Anatolia di Narco is devoted to hemp and weaving. It presents the cultivation and use of hemp in domestic life and production, the tools for processing and weaving, and a collection of textiles donated by families of the area. After its renovation, the display combines objects, multimedia tools and multisensory routes that connect each piece to its function and history.

The route also includes the contemporary installation “Spinning Dolls” by the artist Liliane Lijn, which evokes the gestures and the female world linked to textile work. In the adjacent rooms, renovated with hemp and lime bio-architecture, are the Laboratorio di tessitura (weaving workshop), a practical teaching space, and the Atelier di sartoria (tailoring studio), where fibres and fabrics can be explored right through to the design of a garment.

The museum is intended as a place of encounter and exchange of practices, where a textile project fosters dialogue between institutions, museum professionals, bearers of tradition and young weavers.
