About the museum
The museum was founded in 2001 with the donation to the city of Terlizzi of a large group of finds collected over more than twenty years by fellow townsman Cosimo Damiano Paparella, an enthusiastic collector. In 2013 the municipal administration held a dedication ceremony and placed a plaque in the museum in his memory.
The collection comprises around four thousand pieces dating from the late 19th to the first half of the 20th century: tools, implements and everyday objects that document the work, habits and traditions of the local rural economy. A library and periodicals collection holds texts, journals, documents, photographs and audiovisual material of historical and anthropological interest.
The route is organised into thematic sections: the home, daily life, craft workshops, olive oil, wine, field cultivation and livestock. The museum has an educational purpose and is part of the olive oil route “Terra d’Ulivi”. At present the rooms are not accessible because of a building site next to the premises.
