About the museum
The museum is located inside the Antica Distilleria di Altavilla, in the Cittadella district of Altavilla Monferrato, owned by the Mazzetti family. The historic rooms house objects linked to the family’s distilling activity, carried on for six generations.
The distillery was founded in 1846 by Filippo Mazzetti and lies at the foot of a hill in the Monferrato. Local pomace is distilled in steam stills, and the grappas mature in barrels and barriques of different woods. The museum can be visited all year round by appointment; in October and November visitors can watch grappa being produced live.
