About the museum
The museum was founded with historical and cultural aims: to spread the values of the Resistance and to research and preserve documentation on anti-fascism, on concentration camps and on political confinement under the regime. It also commemorates the dramatic passage of the front through Sansepolcro and the events in which the town played a leading role in the Second World War.
The permanent exhibition, titled “Perché Resistenza”, is based on forty panels and is supplemented by a collection of period weapons, objects donated by private citizens and materials from the fascist internment camp at Renicci, located in the territory of Anghiari.
The adjoining library holds around 2,500 volumes on local, contemporary and Resistance history, a collection of documents from 1920-1945 and a periodicals collection with publications from the fascist era and the postwar period.
