About the museum
The museum was established in 1995 by the cultural group “Amici di Casale”, in cooperation with the Comune di Albino and with the support of the Comunità Montana Val Seriana. Its aim is to reconstruct the history and traditions of Casale and, more broadly, of the Valle del Lujo, returning a heritage of memory to the local population and placing tools, documents and everyday objects in the economic and social context in which they were used.
The sections show the work of farmers and craftspeople: tools for working the land, pasture, cultivation, livestock and the woods, alongside the activities of miners, charcoal burners, blacksmiths, farriers, carpenters and shoemakers. One section is devoted to the rural house and to household objects.
A specialist library holds documents, photographs, maps, recordings of oral culture and audiovisual material. The museum also stands out for its attention to chestnut growing and to the old apple and pear varieties of the valley, with books, postcards, recordings, fruit-picking tools and various types of chestnut.
