About the museum
The museum, also called the Museo del vino dell’Etna, was founded in the late 1990s by Professor Rosario Zappalà, who asked residents to donate the obsolete tools of vine cultivation and wine production. It is housed in a building opposite the town hall of Sant’Alfio and tells the wine-making past of the village, whose wines were also exported.
The exhibition spreads over two levels and includes a permanent photographic exhibition on the grape harvests of the early 20th century, a collection of traditional farming tools and a section with wines from the municipalities that belong to the Associazione nazionale Città del Vino (Italian association of wine towns).
