About the museum
The Museo delle Cere di Maddaloni, named after Don Salvatore D’Angelo, offers a route through the historical and cultural origins of Campania by means of tableaux in which wax figures, dressed in specially made costumes, represent historical figures and artists. In the past the collection was housed in Caserta, in the former Sant’Agostino convent.
The route begins with the Bourbon period, with the figure of Charles of Bourbon, and touches on the myth of “Campania Felix”, the Southern Question and brigandage. Another part is devoted to artists from Campania, including poets and playwrights such as Salvatore Di Giacomo and Raffaele Viviani, and performers such as Totò, Vittorio De Sica, Massimo Troisi, Enrico Caruso and Eduardo and Peppino De Filippo.
