About the museum
The museum has been created in the historic structure of the Pozzo Orlando, a symbol of the memory of mining work, which for almost a century shaped the life of Spoleto and its surrounding area.
The visit to the exhibitions is led by former miners, direct witnesses of mining work, who recount everyday life at the mine sites. The museum is run by the association Amici delle miniere.
The shaft spaces also provide a distinctive and atmospheric setting for events held during the year.
