About the museum
DEMM was a motorcycle company with a plant in Porretta Terme, in the Bologna Apennines, which after the war produced sports motorcycles and mopeds. The museum was created relatively recently thanks to the passion of Mosè Mazzini and his father Giuliano, who, with great personal and financial commitment, brought back to life numerous examples of the company’s output, including some true rarities.
The most famous piece is the “siluro” (torpedo), the streamlined motorcycle that in 1956 set twenty-four world records on the Monza circuit. Other sports motorcycles on display recall the company’s successes in the Italian mountain championships of 1961, 1962 and 1963.
According to the Città metropolitana di Bologna, the collection includes over one hundred models and prototypes of motorcycles and mopeds, together with a photographic archive of more than two hundred images of the vehicles and advertising campaigns of the Porretta plant. The museum is linked to the Registro storico DEMM, which preserves the memory of the brand.
