About the museum
The Valli di Comacchio are one of the largest lagoon systems in Italy: over 11,000 hectares between Comacchio and the river Reno, within the Parco del Delta del Po. For centuries they were the site of fishing and fish farming, especially for eel, and they preserve old casoni, the buildings in which fishermen lived and worked.
The visit starts at Stazione Foce, where the ticket office is located. With an environmental guide you travel by boat along the inner channels of the valleys, observing waterbirds and the colony of flamingos. A stop on land allows you to enter the fishing casoni and learn about their history.
The route also includes a walk to the open-air section of the Museo Delta Antico, where two houses of the ancient Etruscan city of Spina have been reconstructed. The experience is organised by Po Delta Tourism and is included in the Comacchio Museum Pass.
