About the museum
Poggio Valicaia was a large farming estate, later donated to the Comune di Scandicci and turned into a public park, initially a destination for outings and picnics. Since 2003 it has been a park-museum: contemporary artists have created works placed among the trees and meadows, including works by Dario Bartolini and Italo Zuffi.
The 48-hectare area includes a network of about 5 km of paths, a pond, an olive grove and a picnic area with tables and barbecues for free use. Squirrels, wild boars, foxes, badgers and nocturnal birds of prey live in the park. Oil and honey produced in the park come from the olive grove and the beehives.
The park is run by the social cooperative Il Giglio del Campo and offers educational workshops on fauna, flora and trees, themed walks for children and summer events such as concerts and evenings of astronomical observation.
