About the museum
The museum commemorates St Josephine Bakhita, the “Madre Moretta”, who was born in Africa and lived in Schio as a Canossian nun. The route includes the church in which her mortal remains rest.
The route consists of four spaces: the church, a neoclassical temple that houses the gilded bronze urn containing the saint's remains; a hall with significant wall panels; the room where the saint lived; and an exhibition on the stages of her life and on Africa, her homeland. The exhibition also includes ex-voto offerings and testimonies of graces received.
