About the museum
The Ethiopian Museum Guglielmo Massaia is set up in the cardinal’s apartment, simple and austere, in the convent of the Friars Minor Capuchin in Frascati, a 16th-century complex. It was inaugurated in 1909 to document the life and work of the Capuchin cardinal Guglielmo Massaia (1809-1889), missionary in Ethiopia, and to preserve and promote the testimonies from the Ethiopian missions.
The route unfolds through seven exhibition halls, presenting ethnographic finds, furnishings and household objects dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.
