About the museum
The museum, opened in 2019, is housed in a late 19th-century rural building north-west of the village of Collio, in the Alta Valle Trompia. The core of the collection consists of about 1,300 objects gathered by the doctor Claudio Giancola (1949–2014), a native of the valley, which document rural life in the Alta Valle Trompia, in the Brescia area and in the Turin area.
The display extends over two floors and includes agricultural tools, ironwork (ferrarezze), paintings and devotional objects, some dating back to the 17th century, as well as local donations such as a 17th-century loom. The museum is run by the Gruppo Alpini di Collio, belongs to the Sistema museale di Valle Trompia and is a stop on the Via del Bosco of the Ecomuseo.
