About the museum
The museum is housed in a 15th-century production facility, the smelting furnace of Tavernole sul Mella. The plant was still in operation in the second half of the 19th century, was then converted into a sawmill and was abandoned in the 1950s. The museum opened in 2002.
The permanent route is presented with panels and audiovisual aids; audio guides in Italian and English are available. On the ground floor is the Giuseppe Ganzola collection, with agricultural and work tools, edged weapons and firearms linked to the local craft of “ferrarezze”. The building also has classrooms for educational activities with children.
