About the museum

The museum holds several thousand objects of Cadore material culture and many photographs. It has two venues: the former dairy of Resinego di Sotto, in Via Senes, and the former railway station in the Liberty (Art Nouveau) style, along the cycle path in San Vito di Cadore.

In the former dairy, the ground floor is devoted to milk processing, sport (cross-country and Nordic skiing from the early 20th century to the 1970s), cooking and carpentry, with various objects such as cine cameras, wooden locks and school desks. The upper floor houses the firefighters’ collection and sections on farming and spinning. The former station has a working model of the Trenino delle Dolomiti with tunnels, pictures and documents on the history of the railway, and a room with fossils from the local area, dedicated to Enrico Baracchi.

Visits are accompanied by the museum’s operator, who explains everyday life in times past.
