About the museum
Carfon is a hamlet of Canale d’Agordo, in the Valle del Biois, at about 1,150 metres above sea level. Here, as at Feder and Fregona, the old cooperative dairy has been kept as a small museum, bearing witness to the processing of milk and cheese in mountain communities.
The museum is part of the Ecomuseo della Valle del Biois, recognized by the Veneto Region in 2021 and active in the municipalities of Canale d’Agordo, Falcade and Vallada Agordina. The ecomuseum is run by the Fondazione Papa Luciani and involves a community of volunteers who look after the landscape and study its origins.
The museum can be visited mainly as part of the “Tour dei Caseli”, a guided visit to the historic dairies of the valley with tasting of local cheeses.
