About the museum
The Palau ethnographic museum tells the story of the town and of Gallura through objects recovered from the stazzi (traditional Gallura farmsteads), the typical Gallura rural houses and the workshops of the first craftspeople. It is located on Via Nazionale, in the locality of Montiggia, among olive trees and granite.
The collection occupies two large rooms and is divided into six thematic sections: the domestic environment, viticulture, agriculture, herding, means of transport and crafts. Visitors can see household furnishings, tools for making bread and cheese, presses and casks, ploughs, cowbells, an ox-drawn cart, and the tools of blacksmiths, carpenters and shoemakers.
The museum is run by the company Lugori and is part of a circuit that also includes the Fortezza di Monte Altura and the Roccia dell’Orso, with combined tickets.
