About the museum
The Museo etnografico eoliano is a private collection housed in the Hotel Oriente, in the centre of Lipari. It has more than fifty years of history and was created by Edoardo Bongiorno, who for decades gathered objects from the craft traditions of the Aeolian Islands.
The collection includes tools and implements of everyday use of every kind, musical instruments and photographs, presented in an artistic and symbolic way rather than as simple finds. The museum is located in a fenced garden with fruit trees, right next to the ancient Greek necropolis of Lipari.
