About the museum
The ethnographic museum is located in Cascina Castello, a historic farmstead in the territory of Settala, in the hamlet of Premenugo, within the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano. In the area of the fontanili (spring-fed ditches) between Rodano and Settala, the farm also houses a park information point, set up in the old stone walls of the chapel and opened in 2007.
The ethnographic centre documents peasant life in the Basso Milanese through the organisation of the farm courtyard and the workshops of rural craftsmen, such as the blacksmith, the carpenter and the saddler. According to a publication of the park, management is entrusted to the cultural association “Il Fontanile” of Rodano in collaboration with the park. The farm also hosts initiatives by local associations, such as festivals and workshops that include a visit to the museum.
