About the museum
The Torre dei Panei, with a round base, dates from the 16th century and was built as a watchtower and defence against raids by Barbary pirates. It is one of two towers of this type in the territory of Pompeiana; the other, square in plan, stands in the hamlet of Barbarasa.
Today the tower houses a small ethnographic museum, open to the public during the summer months.
