About the museum
The Museo Laboratorio di Archeologia is located within the Renaissance fortified walls of Monsampolo del Tronto. Room A is devoted to funerary rites in the ancient world and displays two tombs from the Roman period, finds from the Roman necropolis in contrada Comunanza and other Roman material discovered in the area during agricultural work.
Rooms B, C and D present the excavations of a Bronze Age hut and of an earth house from the Picene period. Numerous Picene finds are on display, relating mainly to everyday life, weaving, games and personal adornment, together with swords, jewellery and objects from a woman’s grave goods.
The museum is one of the cultural sites of Monsampolo, which also include the Museo della Cripta with its mummies and the Museo civico (civic museum).
