About the museum
The museum is located on the ground floor of the Palazzo Comunale in Monteprandone and holds the largest part of the Library of San Giacomo della Marca, a 15th-century collection of manuscript codices. Its oldest nucleus is a codex from the 9th–10th centuries containing texts by Cicero, Seneca and Aristotle, among others.
Four autograph volumes of the saint's sermons and a letter signed in Rome in 1455 are also on display. The collection was restored under the scientific direction of the Opificio delle pietre dure di Firenze, and between 2011 and 2012 it attracted studies from institutions such as the Hungarian cultural academy and the University of Bari.
The building, damaged by the 2016 earthquake, reopened in November 2024.
