About the museum

The museum is located in the abbey of San Bartolomeo in Campofilone, in rooms adjoining the sacristy. The Benedictine abbey is documented from 1066, and the town grew up around it.

The liturgical section holds vestments and furnishings donated over the centuries by the commendatory abbots and the faithful. The archaeological section presents Picene finds from the Campofilone area and Roman objects that testify to the presence of villas in the district. The visit ends in the small cloister of the abbey, where a Roman cistern can be seen, used by the Benedictine monks and later by the commendatory abbots.
