About the museum
The shell museum grew out of the owners’ passion for travel and for shells. It all began in 1975 with a souvenir business, selling shells in particular.
Over the years, shells were bought and collected on trips to exotic countries such as the Philippines and Vietnam. The search for ever more beautiful and rare specimens took the collection from a few hundred to several thousand pieces, which are now on public display in the centre of Vieste.
