About the museum
The museum tells the story of the fighting in Filottrano from 1 to 9 July 1944, when the Italian Liberation Corps, with the Nembo Combat Group, and the II Polish Corps attacked the German defence line that ran from Cingoli through Filottrano, Osimo and Castelfidardo and protected the port of Ancona.
The exhibition opened on 8 July 2017 in Palazzo Accorretti, the seat of the town hall. The route uses thematic reconstructions and multimedia systems to illustrate the events: during the night of 8 to 9 July the Germans withdrew, and in the morning the town, reduced to rubble, was liberated.
The display includes relics recovered from the battlefield: weapons, ammunition, photographs, soldiers' diaries, military maps and equipment of the various armies involved, as well as personal effects of Nembo soldiers and documents of the period.
