About the museum
The museum is housed in the Colonnato building in the Parco Termale di Crodo, together with the Museo nazionale delle acque minerali and the visitor centre of the Parco naturale Alpe Veglia e Alpe Devero. It is run by the voluntary association Centro Studi Piero Ginocchi.
It is named after Aldo Roggiani (1914–1986), a naturalist who discovered the mineral roggianite in Val Vigezzo, and Angelo Bianchi (1892–1970), a mineralogist and petrographer and professor at the University of Padua: both studied the minerals of Ossola and the Devero area.
The display cases show minerals found in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, belonging to private collectors and rotated periodically so as to make room for different collections. One case is dedicated to Aldo Roggiani, under an agreement with the Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali di Torino. The museum works with the Parco Alpe Veglia e Alpe Devero and with curators from Milan and Padua on the research and conservation of minerals.
