About the museum
The Museo naturalistico di Lubriano was established at the start of the third millennium by the Comune, together with the walking route of waters, flowers, fruits and edible herbs. Thanks to European funds made available by the Regione Lazio, an old house in the historic centre, in Piazza Col di Lana, was restored to create a museum and study centre; the inauguration dates from 2009.
The building houses tools for understanding the natural environment in its botanical, faunal, geomorphological and hydrobiological aspects: a scientific library, a teaching herbarium, a laboratory with microscopes and rock finds to touch, including a fragment of calanco (badland) with a fossil mollusc. Particular attention is paid to beekeeping.
The museum also carries out research and outreach work and is part of the RESINA museum system of the Regione Lazio and of the Lago di Bolsena museum system. From the museum a route leads to the Monumento naturale Balza di Seppie and the calanchi landscape.
