About the museum
The museum is in Rossino, a hamlet of Calolziocorte, in an 18th-century building behind the church of San Lorenzo, and is laid out over two floors. The collection was created thanks to the parish priest Don Mariano Carrara, who gathered, studied and promoted the testimonies of the local area.
The museum opened in 2008; in 2009 it joined the Rete dei Musei della Diocesi di Bergamo (network of museums of the Diocese of Bergamo), and in 2010 Regione Lombardia recognised it as a “Raccolta museale”. From the same year it has worked with the Sistema Museale della Provincia di Lecco.
The route displays popular art and devotion, objects, prints and sacred vestments dating from the 15th to the 20th century, drawn from parish holdings, private donations and the recovery of local material that risked being lost because it did not belong to high art. The project includes an itinerary that also takes in the church of San Lorenzo Vecchio, the new church of San Lorenzo and the area of the old parade ground of Castel Rubro.
