About the museum
The Museo Sisàn was established in Cisano di Bardolino, on the Veronese shore of Lake Garda, to document the traditions associated with birds, fishing and hunting in the Garda area. Its name refers to the Sagra dei Osei of Cisano, the popular festival that for generations has brought together rural communities from the Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino, and to which one section of the exhibition is dedicated.
The building belongs to the municipality of Bardolino and was granted for twenty years to the Associazione Sagra dei Osei di Cisano, which manages it. The renovation project was designed by architect Marco Mamone and removed architectural barriers. The museum opened to the public in 2009.
The route combines finds, reconstructions and scientific data with interactive multimedia, with texts in Italian, German and English. Among the most recent exhibits is a large lake trout, seized in 2003 for illegal fishing and on loan to the museum since 2010.
