About the museum
The museum is set up in a room on the second floor of the Casa del Mutilato in Forlì, the provincial seat of the Associazione nazionale mutilati e invalidi di guerra, present in the building since 1933. The building, named after the decorated Fulcieri Paulucci de' Calboli, was designed by the architect Cesare Bazzani by converting the former seat of Forlì's freemasonry.
The collection was formed through donations from members of the association and their families. In 1993 it was donated, together with the association's library, to the Comune di Forlì, which undertook to keep it in its original location.
The materials document above all the First World War and the colonial wars, with evidence from the Second World War: uniforms, weapons, medals, flags, decorations, coins and military badges, objects of war adapted by soldiers in the trenches, relics of Fulcieri Paulucci de' Calboli, period postcards and paintings by the Forlì artist Maceo Casadei of the front in 1915–18.
