About the museum
The Museolaboratorio d'Arte Contemporanea was set up in 1998 by the municipal administration of Città Sant'Angelo and is housed in the complex of the former Manifattura Tabacchi (tobacco factory). Since 2001 it has been directed by the artist Enzo De Leonibus, who has steered it towards experimental research, keeping the spaces always open to every form of contemporary and visual art.
More than a simple exhibition venue, the museum sees itself as a meeting and working place for artists. The management aims to create an atmosphere of relationships from which projects can grow and to make the institution a point of reference for contemporary art. From 2002 onwards the activity has continued without interruption, with the aim of opening up new paths and building a contemporary artistic and cultural heritage.
The spaces, spread across about sixteen rooms with two cloisters, house works created for the site by various artists, including Bruna Esposito, Salis & Vitangeli, Yonel Hidalgo Perez, Alfredo Pirri and Emanuela Barbi.
