About the museum

The Serbissi nuragic complex stands on the Taccu plateau, a natural fortress with steep limestone walls on the border between the municipalities of Osini and Gairo, at almost 1,000 metres altitude, with a wide view over the Ogliastra and the Barbagie.

The site includes a trilobed complex nuraghe, a village of eight huts and, in the area below, a cave that the Nuragic inhabitants used to store food supplies: a combination that makes the place unusual. Archaeological investigations attest occupation from the Middle Bronze Age to the Recent and Final Bronze Age.

The visit is part of the Taccu archaeological and natural park, which also includes other nuraghi, giants’ tombs, the Scala di San Giorgio gorge and the ruins of the abandoned village of Osini Vecchio, left after the flood of 1951. Visits are run by the cooperative Archeo Taccu in collaboration with the Comune di Osini.
