About the museum
The Casa-museo di Elini occupies an old house in the historic centre, restored in keeping with its original features. The building spans three floors, with wooden plank floors and ceilings of beams and reeds; a granite staircase leads to a spacious inner courtyard, while the outer courtyard has a portico and a traditional bread oven.
The rooms are furnished as they once were: the kitchen with its hearth and utensils, the bedrooms with wrought-iron beds, and the cellar with a corner for bread-making and the pantry. The route is completed by farm tools, everyday objects, traditional costumes and embroidery from Elini.
The visit gives an insight into the features of an Ogliastra house of the past and into the rural life of the village. On opening days it is possible to watch the preparation of culurgiones, a typical Ogliastra dish, and taste them.
