About the museum
The Succuronis nuraghe stands on a trachyte outcrop in the Marghine, in central-northern Sardinia, about two kilometres from Macomer along the road to Bosa. It is a single-tower nuraghe: the tower has a diameter of about 14 metres and is built of large blocks at the base, with progressively smaller and more regular stones in the upper courses. On the outside, small triangular or square loopholes arranged almost in a spiral can be seen, which let light filter inside.
The trapezoidal entrance, topped by a lintel with a relieving window, opens onto a corridor roofed with slabs; to one side is the opening of the helical staircase that led to the upper floor. The main chamber has three secondary niches.
Beside the nuraghe is a domus de janas which, because of its poor state of preservation and the debris inside, cannot be visited. The site is part of the archaeological offer of Macomer, with guided tours organised by the cooperative Esedra Escursioni.
