About the museum
The Chirisconis necropolis is located in the Badu 'e Crabolu area, in the territory of Suni, in Planargia, and is carved into a rocky outcrop overlooking the valley of the Riu Mannu. It is a complex of domus de janas, the rock-cut tombs of Sardinian prehistory, dating to the Final Neolithic, between about 3200 and 2800 BC.
The site contains twelve burial tombs with twenty-one chambers in total, most of them preceded by a vestibule. Traces of red paint are still visible in some of the cells. The highest tomb, the twelfth, is reached with some difficulty from above.
The necropolis has been known to scholars since its mention by Taramelli in the archaeological map and has been studied by, among others, Antonio Moravetti and Vittorio Santoni. It is part of the itineraries of the Suni archaeological park, which also includes the Nuraddeo nuraghe and other monuments in the territory, and in recent years it has been affected by consolidation work.
