About the museum
The Parco Sculture di Lesina, called “LungoLago Lesina”, is an open-air art and environment museum along the shore of the lagoon. It is the first public sculpture park in Apulia. It grew out of a project by the artistic and cultural association ArteOra of Foggia and was presented in 2013, with artistic direction by Gigliola Fania and critical curation by Maria Vinella.
The large sculptures, permanently installed, are works by Italian and international artists, including Cristian Biasci, Alessandro Boezio, Pietro Coletta, Giulio De Mitri, Francesco Granito, Nelida Mendoza, Jack Sal and Tarshito. Some stand on dry land, others in the lagoon water. They are dedicated to landscapes, the passages of water and the other primary elements: earth, air, fire, wind, light, sky and stone.
The works are carved from the limestone quarried on the slopes of the Gargano, between Apricena, Lesina and Poggio Imperiale, and were created through collaboration between artists, quarries and local craftsmen. Among the works is “Scultura di vento” by Francesco Granito (2012/2013), in Apricena stone and wood.
