Frida Kahlo e Marilyn Monroe. Vite parallele

Over 120 photographs by well-known photographers compare the lives of Frida Kahlo and Marilyn Monroe, from childhood to success, alongside works by artists such as Andy Warhol and Zhang Hongmei.

About the museum

The gallery is housed on the second floor of the Palazzo dei Priori, in Piazza del Popolo, the heart of the city of Fermo. The palace was built at the end of the 14th century by joining two existing buildings, was restored in the first half of the 15th century and completed in 1525. On its façade stands a statue of Sisto V, a work by Accursio Baldi known as Il Sansovino (1588), which commemorates the pontiff who was bishop of Fermo from 1571 to 1577. A double staircase leads from the entrance to the city’s main museum complex.

The route unfolds through five rooms named after the works on display: the local history room; the Gothic art room or “sala degli ori” (room of gold), with the polyptych by Andrea da Bologna and the panels by Jacobello del Fiore with the Stories of Saint Lucy (around 1410); the 17th-century room or “sala Rubens”; the Renaissance room; and the Sala Andrea Boscoli. Among the works are a Crucifixion by Vincenzo Pagani, a Pentecost by Giovanni Lanfranco and the Adoration of the Shepherds by Rubens.

The route also includes the Sala del Mappamondo, the former Sala delle Commedie (theatre hall) of 1688, the oldest core of the Biblioteca Spezioli, where the large globe of 1713 drawn by the abbot Amanzio Moroncelli is displayed.
