About the museum
The Pordenone branch of the Immaginario Scientifico occupies the former Officine delle Tintorie (dye works) of the former Cotonificio di Torre, an industrial building owned by the Comune di Pordenone. It is an interactive and experimental science museum, where visitors can try out physical phenomena for themselves.
The display is divided into thematic areas devoted, among other things, to perception, mirrors, logic puzzles, light and shadow, vibrations and waves, gravity and forces, turbulence and fields. A special installation, “100.000 anni in un foglio di carta” (“100,000 years on a sheet of paper”), offers a view of time.
As well as the exhibits to touch and operate, the centre offers multimedia shows on current scientific topics and has rooms for workshops. On weekdays the centre is open to groups and schools by appointment.
