About the museum
Septempeda was a Roman town on the left bank of the Potenza river, near the church of Santa Maria della Pieve, along a branch of the ancient Via Flaminia. The settlement was destroyed during the barbarian invasions and was never rebuilt on the same site.
The archaeological area preserves a stretch of walls built with large sandstone blocks, with the eastern gate and the south-western one. A large thermal building is also visited, with rooms arranged around a central courtyard paved in opus spicatum, and a craft quarter with Roman kilns for the production of pottery.
The visit route ends at the Museo archeologico Giuseppe Moretti in San Severino Marche, which holds prehistoric, Picene and Roman finds from the territory.
