About the museum
The museum occupies a 12th-century watchtower, restored by the Comune di Serrapetrona in 1995. It displays tools and objects that document daily life before industrialisation, such as craft and farm tools, costumes, a hand seed drill, millstones for spelt, a treadle lathe and the instruments of an early 20th-century district doctor (medico condotto).
The collection was built up from donations by village families, with the contribution of the local volunteer Rinaldo Antolini. The museum was temporarily closed after damage caused by the 2016 earthquake.
