About the museum
The Spazio Lalla Romano is a permanent exhibition devoted to Graziella, known as Lalla, Romano, a writer and painter from Demonte. It is located in the Palazzetto, a 15th-century building connected to Palazzo Borelli by the 19th-century Galleria Carlo Alberto. The Palazzetto was once the residence of the Bolleris viscounts and later lodgings for guests of the Counts Borelli, who received King Charles Albert there several times.
The route presents the artist’s paintings and drawings, a photographic reconstruction of her studio in Via Brera in Milan, and the covers of her literary works. The space also functions as a documentation centre.
Palazzo Borelli, dating from the early 17th century, preserves 18th-century frescoes and decorated wooden ceilings and also houses the civic library and the Museo della Porcellana (Porcelain Museum). It is connected to a 19th-century terraced park with fountains, grottoes and a greenhouse.
